Detailed review on the famous “Chaaye Khana” F-6 Islamabad

Chaaye Khana is a place where tea lovers from all around the town gather. The place is famous among youngsters, you will find so many youngsters visiting and chilling with friends. Chaaye Khana has other branches in the city, too.

It is a clean and fairly priced place. However, they do not serve lunch menu until only after 1pm, the ambience, food (local and international) and service is somewhere between a yes and no for me because it used to be better back in time.

I had been going to Chaaye Khana for a long time now and I have realized that their taste and quality is changing slowly. The food is losing its taste and the tea is not that tea which makes you close your eyes and you go “AHH!!”, anymore. 

My last visit to Chaaye Khana was on last Sunday November 21st 2018 at around 12:00 PM. I had a business colleague along. The ambiance and cleanliness is still okay. We sat for a while before placing our order just observing small changes in the place like the wait-staff and other smaller stuff. We already got the vibes like this is no THAT place anymore.

Anyway, coming back to our food order, we ordered an Apple Pie, 2 Aloo parathas , spicy chicken salad and of-course 2 cups of tea. Surprisingly , they took a lot more time than they usually do. The average time of wait for 2 cups of tea is 25-30 minutes which for me is a bit too much. They served our food in more than 50 minutes. There is no technology to keep track on your order so you have to keep staring at your phone checking time until you get it served.

Coming back to what they served in such a long time were two stiff parathas that looked and felt heavier than a pizza dough. the apple pie was way too sweet and not something we expected. Chicken salad was okay but it lacked something. It was so obvious that their taste and quality has changed drastically.

TEA, their tea had no charm! it definitely lacked the punch in the richness of its taste and the tea was spilling out of the cups which seemed so unpleasant to the eye before even trying it out. had a sip and got so-so disappointed.  They offer a variety of tea but the taste of the tea might not be up to the mark for tea lovers like me.

we talked to the manager about it and he was kind enough to offer us a little something because of our bad experience but it was not enough to satisfy me with the place.

Another problem I see is that the toilets are located upstairs which can be hard for some of the elders or anyone who might have trouble climbing up the stairs. 

The place used be one of my personal favorites and I used to love-love-love their croissants coated with dark chocolate paired with a cup of jasmin tea. This simple yet amazing combo is unforgettable. Another thing that I loved the most was their chocolate fudge cake. I really hope things will fall back into it’s place and they improve the quality of the food.
